Lycoris

Home of sirocyl.

The site is undergoing a transitional phase.
For all you're concerned, all of Lycoris is on this page. Big, monolithic page.
Sub-sites, such as Skidbladnir's Dock, will remain online.
Please bear with us while we upgrade to Lycoris Web Engine V8.

Tachikoma - A real-time imageboard script that's light on the server. Extensible for other uses too. Inspired by PunBB.
ZANARKAND - Zune Application Network And Repository - Killer Apps Never Die. OpenZDK-based application manager and repo system. Inspired by Cydia.
SCT-App - An unofficial Suffolk County Transit buses app for the various devices out there. Based on data from their site.

- Utopia Pocket Linux, a build of Maemo (the Nokia N900's Debian-like Linux OS) for HTC devices
- Nightmare Pocket Distribution, based upon Utopia and Backtrack Mobile, a mobile security and penetration-testing kit.
- Insomnia, an advanced, user-friendly, themable Android Recovery environment replacement, which also functions as a multi-bootloader

Site news:

You didn't tell me there was a penguin stuck in this router! 2010-07-06 3:53 AM EST
So I freed him. Netgear WNR1000 v1, 400 MHz ARM, 32MB RAM, 4MB Flash ROM. Runs a derivative of OpenWrt, GPL code is available.
I'll mirror up the telnetenable program (win32 PE Console application) later, here are the specific steps to get it working:
(by the way this may work with many NETGEAR routers, with the same command, though the outcomes may vary. You might brick your router, and/or void your warranty.
1. Get your router's LAN MAC address (usually on the Router Status page), and remove colons and/or dashes, and to Upper Case (i.e. 00:22:3f:ce:01:5f » 00223FCE015F)
2. Grab the program. Assuming your router is at 192.168.1.1 and is on.
3. open command prompt, cd to the directory containing the program.
4. Run: telnetenable 192.168.1.1 «your router's mac address» Gearguy Geardog
5. Telnet in to your router using your preferred method. You will be greeted by a Busybox Ash console. Woot Linux!

New project: The Unofficial Suffolk County Transit App 2010-07-03 6:23 PM EST
Well, it seems almost everyone's jumping on the smartphone bandwagon. Suffolk Transit however, still has some catching-up to do.
Being almost a regular on the buses, I decided, why not make an app for transit bus routes? So here it is.
Planned features include:
- Schedule tables, nicely formatted for your device (iPhone, Android, WAP, what have you)
- Google Maps integration, and route overlays
- Trip planning/routing for walking/bus trips
- Alerts (Push on iPhone, background service on Android) when your selected bus is scheduled to arrive
- It's not just for smartphones! A frontend is expected for desktop/iPad web, too
In the far distant future:
- Integration and co-operation with SCT's site
- Custom schedule printing with any bus route you want on a single sheet
- Integration with bus GPS and ETA calculation
- Zune app in Zanarkand

Available for iOS, Android, webOS, and most web browsers, soon

Hey now, you're a Dockstar. 2010-07-02 6:48 PM EST
Well, I just got my Dockstar in the mail, from Woot. It's also my last Woot purchase before the Amazon takeover.
At its max, it'll draw 78 watts, but only if you're about to burn it out. Normally it's in the 15-20 watt range in use.
It's a PogoPlug-class device, links up with the Pogoplug website, and runs its firmware.
The hardware has no RTC (Real-Time Clock chip, to keep time and date) so it needs to get its time from a server.
It seems to have a nice 1.2GHz ARM CPU, 128MB of RAM, and 256MB flash for the OS.
Gigabit Ethernet, 3 USB 2.0 ports and one mini-USB plug on the dock (to fit a Freeagent Go drive).
Root password is by default 'stxadmin'.
A version of DataFactory is in the works for this device, that will install the base files in flash, and load plugins from USB using a special auto-run script style.
Checking for WiFi drivers for ARM Linux for USB WLAN adapters. Also, might make some dremel-work of this device and add a micro-USB hub and some extras.

Well, this'll be easy.... 2010-06-28 7:54 PM EST
Taking a crash-course in URL rewriting with Apache and PHP... I hope I survive. x_x
"The great thing about mod_rewrite is it gives you all the configurability and flexibility of Sendmail.
The downside to mod_rewrite is that it gives you all the configurability and flexibility of Sendmail."

- Brian Behlendorf, Apache Group (link: "The Case of the 500-mile email", a page highlighting Sendmail's brain-melting abilities)

Site upgrades! 2010-06-28 1:21 AM EST
So it might seem obvious, but the site is undergoing some changes.
Lycoris is currently in a transitional phase from its previous layout, framework, etc. (web engine v7 and v6) to version 8.0.
This is huge. This means that the site might actually be put to a use.
So what is this upgrade going to bring? Well, in short, the v8 engine will be redesigned both under-the-hood (ok, enough car puns now) and on the outside.
The engine is based on Tachikoma's modular script system, coupled with an upgraded site style, which makes the entire site more dynamic and fluid.
It will also integrate higher-level frameworks running on Javascript. Facebook and Twitter stream integration is in the plans.

V8 Project Status/Progress

Created this page!

[TODO] Merge Tachikoma framework files into v8 test environment
[TODO] Clear some old files and junk off the site
[TODO] Make pages for projects, create description files

Once it's all finished, this page will be replaced by the new Lycoris.

Oh, also, Lyoko Core is set to make a return. For more information, contact me on Skype.
Code Lyoko hasn't died yet.

Geez, I hate fine-print.
Created in nano editor, on Linux, for viewing in any browser that can handle html(5). Best viewed in eLinks or similar.
Running on HTML, Apache Server, No PHP. Based on Lycoris 1.0. Remember my good ol' static under-construction homepage? This is it. :)
